Get involved at Grow Space
Volunteering at Grow Space is a great way to gain practical experience with regenerative organic gardening and compost management, meet new local people, and make a positive impact in your neighbourhood. We believe everyone has something to offer, and something to learn !

We have a number of different volunteering opportunities that you can get involved in at Grow Space:

MUMG Garden Volunteer
(Wednesday 10am - 1pm)

Our MUMG team hosts Garden Volunteers on  Wednesday morning, between 10am - 1pm. each week. Whether you have lots of gardening experience, or none, this is a great opportunity to learn new skills and get to know more about Grow Space and how we operate, with lots of support from our team.

Once registered and inducted, you can attend on a flexible basis.

MUMG Harvesting Volunteer
(Monday and Friday 9am - 1pm)

On Monday and Friday mornings from 9am - 1pm each week, our team harvest, package and deliver our fresh produce, microgreens and edible flowers to  local businesses a short distance from the garden using our ebike. As a harvesting volunteer you will work alongside the MUMG team to harvest, prepare, package and deliver organic produce and microgreens for local cafes. Full induction and training will be provided.

Regular volunteers preferred, once induction and training has been completed, you can attend by arrangement on Monday and Friday mornings.

Grow Space Working Bee's
(Last Sunday of the month)
On the last Sunday of the month we host a regular working bee in the garden. These events are a great opportunity to muck in with neighbours, gain some practical gardening and compost skills, meet new local people while making a positive impact in your neighbourhood. Stay tuned to our social channels for event details.

MUCK Composting Volunteer
(Monday and Friday 3pm - 5pm)

Morningside Urban Compost Kitchen (MUCK) is our neighbourhood compost hub, transforming organic resources from local residents and businesses, into living compost to support community growing initiatives. Organic resources are collected by e-bike every Monday and Friday morning.

We're currently looking for volunteers to help us with two roles:

E-bike collections (Monday or Friday 10am -12pm)
If you are a competent and confident cyclist and keen to cruise the neighbourhood with us in the name of waste-busting, then please get in touch using the form below!

Compost making  (Monday and Friday 3pm -5pm)
If you're keen to learn how to make beautiful rich and fertile compost, then you've come to the right place! Come and learn all about the science behind compost and the microbial players in the pile, but note that this one's only for those okay with getting a bit mucky - all in a day's work!

If you are keen to get involved in learning about and making community-scale compost but aren't available regularly on Monday or Fridays, please get in touch as there are also opportunities to MUCK In with monthly working bees or through the week.
