SFQG "Community Built" Opportunity Quilt 2022/23
•  "Community Built" is the Working Title of our 2022/23 SFQG Opportunity Quilt Project.  The Inspiration for this year's Opportunity Quilt is based on Historical & Vintage Community Quilt projects, which were often made to Raise Awareness or Funds...

•  Here's How it Works—  From January through May 2022, SFQG Members are encouraged to Join in Building COMPONENTS for our SILK Quilt Fundraiser... And we want to make as MANY Components as possible so that we can make a Spectacular Quilt Project "finish"...!!

•  We will definitely make a Grand Prize quilt, and we hope to make several Smaller "Consolation Prize" quilt items as well...  (That means we can have Multiple Prizes for our Opportunity Ticket purchasers.  This will give "More Chances to WIN" for each ticket sold!)

•  The SILK materials were donated by SFQG members during Fall & Winter 2019/2020, in anticipation for the (pandemic cancelled) 2020 "QuiltAway" Retreat... and they lend themselves to many different Piecing Techniques and Block styles.

•  Rather than keep the Opportunity Quilt construction confined to "QuiltAway" (as originally planned...) We have EXPANDED the project to begin Sooner and be OPEN to ALL members of the guild.

• 6 (six) Different Technique KITs will be Available for Members... and will facilitate Skill Building for Working with SILK in quilt-making.

•  Instruction (& Construction) will Officially Begin in January (and run through May/June of 2022), utilizing the (pre-cut fabric + written instructions) KITs.

•  KITs will be available starting in December.  (Details regarding pick-up Dates & Locations TBA soon...)

•  Additional Tutorials & Encouragement (downloadable .pdf files) will be available monthly on our SFQG website "Members ONLY" pages.

•  We will also schedule monthly ZOOM Meet-ups (beginning in January) for Q&A, Demos, plus... a bit of "Show & Tell"...

•  The Quilt Design Layouts (and the NUMBER of quilts) will be determined in conjunction with the June 2022 "QuiltAway" Classes led by Sue Fox at Walker Creek Ranch.  (If "QA" is cancelled again, we will find a location where we can do this step locally.)

• If you are an Instagram user, you can see the Process and Progress of the quilt, week by week, by following the hashtag  #sfqg2023opportunityquilt

•  Please Join Us, in whatever way you choose... but DO join in.  It's gonna be Fun (with Learning Curves included.)  Call Sue Fox (510) 393-1271 for a conversation to clarify (should you have questions or are on the fence) — Or email (foxquilts@gmail.com ).
