Thank you for your interest in the Brown Religious Literacy Project for the spring 2020 semester! The RLP is a weekly non-credit course that aims to cultivate deeper understanding of five major religious traditions: Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity. We will hear presentations from both a scholar and a practitioner of each tradition, with material and discussion largely guided by student questions. Student discussion, reflection, and community building will be incorporated into each week's session, as we intend to foster healthy interfaith dialogue, religious tolerance, and understanding of diverse beliefs and practices. We will meet each Wednesday evening of the spring semester from (tentatively) 7:30-9:30 PM. Applications are due on Dec. 31st, 2020.
The RLP is a welcoming space for people of all faith backgrounds (including none!) and all religious experiences (personal and/or academic) to learn in an open, inclusive, and non-judgmental space. Whether you know little about religion or are well-versed in your own tradition but looking to broaden your understanding of other faiths, the RLP is for you!
