Our greatest need currently is gift cards to stores like Walmart, Target or Smith’s in amounts between $20 and $100. Gift cards offer recently arrived refugee families the opportunity to choose the items they need, and gift cards help the IRC provide for specific needs, like infant formula, prescriptions or work clothes. A gift card offers an important acculturation opportunity, as refugee individuals and families need to traverse new bus routes and interact, in English, with cashiers.

Finally, monetary donations continue to be essential to ensure recently arrived refugees receive the vital services they need to promote family stability, upward mobility and positive integration.
