Have crimes and hate events can be motivated by a range of bias, including racism, sexism, islamophobia, anti-semitism, transphobia, queerphobia, homophobia, biphobia, anti-immigrant hatred, ableism, ageism, etc. They can happen in homes, at school, at work, in religious institutions, in businesses and in the community.
When hate events happen to us, they can have lasting impacts in our lives.
If you have an experience of hate being directed at you, this portal is a place for documenting your story.
Queer Humboldt reviews this data regularly to identify patterns in local hate events, track local hate trends, advocate for communities targeted by hate, inform the development of prevention programs and interventions, and to educate community partners about the realities of hate in our community. We coordinate with local grassroots social justice organizations to develop interventions based on the stories shared in this portal when relevant.
Regardless of whether a hate event is reported to law enforcement, this portal creates a space to document events independently of law enforcement. You might find sharing in this way healing since it allows your story to be used to build solutions to hate in our community.
When you click "submit," your entry will receive a computer-generated timestamp. In the future, if you need that time stamped documentation, please email us at info@queerhumboldt.org.
Queer Humboldt will only use stories shared in this portal in ways that maintain the confidentiality of those involved.
Filling out this form is entirely optional. Please complete the questionnaire with as much detail as possible.
