Volunteer tutors should have a CELTA or equivalent qualification (the course must have observed teaching practice with learners of English) or have a minimum of two years' experience teaching English to speakers of other languages.

There is a two-part induction session for new volunteer tutors. In this we give some background to the project and how this fits in to the broader context of ESOL in Glasgow as well as various other aspects of teaching ESOL in a community class setting. Please note that attendance at both induction settings is required for volunteering and that the inductions are part of the recruitment process. If you have successfully passed the induction stage, you will be invited to join the volunteer tutor project and will be considered for any suitable volunteering opportunities that may arise.
