Art Camp 2020 Welcome Letter & Information Form
Dear Art Camp Families,

Welcome to Art Camp 2020!!!

Many of you have already filled out the online registration form but if you have not, PLEASE HELP US IN COLLECTING ALL OF OUR CAMPERS' MOST VITAL INFORMATION IN ONE PLACE BY COMPLETING ALL OF THE (*) REQUIRED FIELDS PRIOR TO SUBMITTING THE GOOGLE FORM.

What follows is a basic outline of Art Camp's daily activities, requirements, and logistics.

Location: Art Camp will take place on the campus of the new Stevens Square Community Center. We will be outside all day for all camp activities unless there is significant rain. In the event that it is too wet to be outside, we will be able to move classes inside to the second floor library and classroom spaces. There is also a chapel on the campus that is an inside option. We will set up tents and tables on the large green space that faces Stevens Avenue (that runs from the playground fence to the building). We will have our own bathrooms on the second floor inside and will be able to access those any time during the day through the Atrium entrance.  We will also use the smaller green space on the opposite side of the building that abuts the parking lot. There are lots of trees in both areas and we will have many awnings and small pop up tents to protect from the sun. I am excited that we have easy access to the soccer field, Baxter Woods, and the UNE grounds. There is a new
daycare facility moving into the first floor space this week. Their inside and outside areas will not overlap with Art Camp areas or campers in any way. They have their own entrances at the corner of Stevens and Walton. They also have earlier drop off time and later pick up time than Art Camp.

Drop Off : From 8:30am o 9:00am daily, Art Camp families will pull into the parking lot on Walton Street and drive around the outside edge of the parking lot closest to the border along the grass. We will have a permanent drop - off/pick - up area that will be clearly marked. Parents can park in a spot and we will come to your car to check in campers. Campers will be checked in as they leave cars.

Daily Schedule:Upon arrival campers will be taken to their homeroom location for their first activity of the day. Campers will have designated spots for their backpacks and individual storage bins for their personal art camp supplies. Each group will have individual storage bin(s) for keeping balls, first aid box,  and any equipment used by the group.  All individual and group items will be cleaned regularly throughout the day.

Campers will have 3 blocks of activities, 9:00am - 11:00am, 11:00am - 1:30pm, 1:30pm - 3:30pm. Each classroom site will be clearly marked so that campers will have designated spaces for classroom activities. Campers will be in groups of 12 or less and will stay with this group all day. Currently the 3rd - 4th graders are separated into two groups of 7 and 8 respectively. The 5th - 8th graders are one group of 12 that will be spaced appropriately for all classes.
The three blocks will be divided into:
I. Art
II. Dance/Movement games/Integrated art.
III. Theater/Improv/Integrated art.
Each block will include a snack or lunch break/recess break/free choice. The three camper groups will rotate through each block daily.

Pick Up: Families will follow the same protocol as drop - off. Staff will escort campers to their cars and the check off will be done by Art Camp staff.

Safety Protocol: Art camp staff and families will abide by the most recent CDC guidelines for summer camps. The CDC protocol for camps is included in the survey below.

Rainy days: In case of substantial rain, we will be moving inside to three classroom areas. We will also still use outside time on those days. A more detailed description of rainy day protocol will follow.

Tuition: Tuition will be the same as it was before COVID, however we may ask for a small donation to help cover additional expenses related to increased cleaning, sanitizing, etc
Weekly fee: $275, 3 - week session: $725

CONTACT:
If you need to reach us during the camp day please contact Art Camp Director Lisa Hicks at 207-712-1714.

WHAT TO BRING: Each camper should bring 2 snacks, a lunch, drinking water, and shoes for running and playing. We recommend your campers wear clothing you won’t be concerned about them getting messy. When it's hot campers will be provided with an opportunity to cool down in a sprinkler. We would therefore recommend packing a bathing suit and towel OR, for those who might prefer to wear their regular clothes under the sprinkler, a towel with an extra set of dry clothing to change into afterward.

Face Masks: Campers are asked to bring a face mask to camp each day. While we plan to have the ability to observe safe distancing, it may be necessary to wear masks for some parts of the day. If your child is not able to wear a mask please let us know on the form below. We will also have the ability to supply campers with disposable face masks if necessary. We appreciate any feedback you may have on the subject of face masks and invite you to let us know your thoughts on the form below.

Please apply sunscreen and/or send sunscreen with your child. We will have our own supply of sunscreen so that we can make sure that all campers are covered. We will also assist campers in checking for tics at the end of each day.

***** THE USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES OF ANY SORT, SUCH AS CELL PHONES, EARBUDS,  AND AIRPODS, WILL NOT BE PERMITTED DURING ART CAMP.
