Carta abierta a la Cumbre de las Naciones Unidas sobre el cambio climático:

Nosotros, las comunidades locales, los movimientos campesinos, los Pueblos Indígenas y las organizaciones de la sociedad civil de todo el mundo, exigimos que las Naciones Unidas, incluida la Conferencia de las Partes 26 de la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático, que se celebrará en Glasgow, Escocia, a partir del 31 de octubre al 12 de noviembre de 2021; el Fondo Monetario Internacional; los estados miembros, incluido Estados Unidos; las industrias del gas y del petróleo; ONGs de “conservación”; Walt Disney Company y National Geographic Society detengan inmediatamente sus esfuerzos para convertir perversamente a las últimas ballenas que quedan en compensaciones de ballenas para los mercados de carbono, un ejemplo grotesco de lavado verde y falsas soluciones al cambio climático.

Las ballenas sagradas, los mamíferos más grandes del mundo, los leviatanes del océano, corren el riesgo de ser reducidos a un gigantesco negocio de compensaciones de carbono, lo que podría, de hecho, acelerar la extinción de las ballenas. La ONU, el FMI y otros promotores de compensaciones de ballenas quieren que los pueblos del mundo ayuden a pagar a los asesinos de ballenas, incluidas las industrias de pesca, transporte marítimo, gas y petróleo, para que no maten ballenas para que puedan ser utilizadas como compensaciones de carbono, aunque esos mismos asesinos de ballenas también contaminan y provocan el cambio climático, que, a su vez, mata a las ballenas.
