Thank you for your interest in being a member of the CME Committee Member. We meet monthly via zoom (sometimes more when we get close to the conference). The 2022 Conference will be held September 14-17 at the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City, MD. There are several areas where you can help both before and during the conference. Please indicate your willingness to help in the areas below.

Planning: Planning for the September begins in February or March. There are many aspects where you can help with this.

Schedule - working on the schedule and plugging in Speakers into different slots

Working with our Sponsorship Company (Matt, Wim and Becky) to coordinate sponsored dinners, lunches and breaks as well as sponsored talks

Conference Booklet - work with Management to come up with a conference booklet.

Designing and Ordering new signage for the event - old signs have our old logo on it.

Communications - coming up with emails to registered attendees after registration starts and updates on speakers or speaker spotlights for the MdAPA Minutes leading up to the Conference

Take Minutes - during the CME meetings based on the Agenda created by the CME Director

Speaker Recruitment, Vetting and "Wrangling". Speakers need to complete several forms and prepare their lectures before the event and also to be welcomed at the conference, and to be available to make sure they are ready to give a great presentation.

Speaker Follow up - checking in periodically to make sure they are doing their presentation and they are uploading designated forms and information.

Workshops - work to find and schedule different workshops

Leadership Track -work with Kristi Gindlesberger to have a pre-conference Leadership event and Networking event Wednesday Evening

Professional Development Track - this was introduced last year and people liked it - things like how to avoid burn out, what's next outside of seeing patients, education track, etc.

Student Track Planning - Students are our future members, so their engagement is very important. Last year, despite 2 schools declining to participate, we had a large number of students at the Challenge Bowl as well as workshops on Saturday during the day. We have support from PALLA for this.

School Liaisons - have contact with the schools and let them know about the confernce and visit to get them excited

Work to set up a student track or poll students to see what they would like to do. Last year we tried to get an ultrasound class for them.

Silent Auction - Each year the MdAPA President selects a charity to send the proceeds of the silent auction held during the conference. Planning for this needs to happen prior to the event as items need to be obtained and picked up.

Coordinate the Silent Auction

Solicit businesses for items for the Auction - gift cards, free tours (winery), jewlery, food etc.

Organize and set up at the conference (bid sheets and displays)

Help with Check out after the auction ends with the Treasurer

Conference Entertainment - During the Conference we have opportunities for the attendees to meet and mingle, be entertained, and of course the Challenge Bowl. Each of these conference aspects take planning and group effort to pull off. Please indicate which of these you are interested in.

Wednesday Night Meet and Greet Networking Mixer

Thursday Night Option (last year we had an evening off, but it may be nice to offer something to attendees like a golf outing, a winery outing or brewery etc)

Friday Night - Last year we had a hypnotist, but anything goes here, a DJ, band etc

Saturday Night - Challenge Bowl with a planed post event(last year we had the students DJ for a bit)

Conference Set Up and Take Down: There are lots of pre-conference activities like bag stuffing and signage and set up that happens. At the end (Saturday night and Sunday AM) there is clean up and take down that needs to be done.
