In search of the Giant of the Pampas
The Horned Frog (Ceratophrys ornata) is an anuran amphibian that inhabits the temperate grasslands of South America. Its distribution covers the Pampean Region in Argentina and the Fields of Uruguay and Brazil. This species has experienced recent population declines and its global conservation status is Near Threatened (IUCN).

Giant of the Pampas is an initiative developed and executed by researchers and conservationists from Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. Our objective is to carry out conservation and management actions for the species based on studies of distributional, genetic, reproductive and demographic aspects. As a first step, we need to gather as many reliable records as possible.

We would appreciate if you completed this brief survey if you ever saw a Horned Frog!

Some things to keep in mind:

1. If you have photos of the record, send them to gigantedelaspampas@gmail.com

2. In case you need to load more than one record, after you send your first response, you can start a new one including a new record.

3. For more information about Ceratophrys ornata you can access: https://gigantedospampas.wixsite.com/english

Thank you so much!
