In 300 words, tell us why you are applying for the 2019-2020 SRL Homegrown Fellowship. What roles are you interested in and why? You may select more than one role. (Team Leader; Producer/ Interviewer; Camera Operator; Editor) *
*If you are interested in being one of the team's Video Editors, please share an example of ONE video that you edited, with a link (Vimeo, YouTube, etc.). This video can be non-fiction, news, fiction, or any other genre.
*If you are interested in being the team's Camera Operator, please share ONE example of a video that you shot with a link (Vimeo, YouTube, etc.). This video can be non-fiction, news, fiction, or any other genre.
The theme for Homegrown 2020 will focus on young voters, particularly young people who will vote for the first time in November 2020. Fellows will create documentary-style video profiles on a few young people, showing their lives, the issues they are passionate about, and how those issues might personally affect their future. Tell us about a young person you know (friend, family member, acquaintance, neighbor, a student at your school, etc) who will be voting for the first time this upcoming election. Why is their story important? How would they make a compelling character? Describe what you’d imagine filming for their story. *
*Please have a teacher or school staff member write a brief recommendation letter and send it to Rawan Elbaba at relbaba@newshour.org. This is a required portion of the application.
