Emerald Network
The Emerald Network is a vision for 200 miles of seamless shared-use greenway paths in the urban core of Boston and its adjacent cities.
*Charles River Area* -- The Charles River Area Project is a priority project for the Emerald Network and LivableStreets. The Charles River runs between Boston and Cambridge. The river is a defining feature in the landscape of both cities. There are many large planning projects taking place along the Charles River. These projects focus on updating nearby parks, roads, bridges, and public transit routes. The Charles River Area Project helps the teams leading these projects work together. By working together, the planning teams can create better transportation routes. They can also build more connected parks and green space.
*Arnold Arboretum/ Roslindale Gateway Path Engagement* -- The Roslindale Gateway Path is a proposed ADA-accessible shared-use pedestrian and cycling path through the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. This project aims to extend the Southwest Corridor path system from Forest Hills bus, subway, and Commuter Rail terminus to Roslindale Village Commuter Rail Station, providing carbon-free commuting options and connecting Boston residents with the natural environment close to where they live.
Transit
The Transit + Streets Program at LivableStreets focuses on meeting pedestrians and transit users where they are at -- on the street!
*Columbus Ave Center Running Bus Lane Engagement* -- The City of Boston and MBTA are working together to extend the center-running bus lanes along Columbus Ave. LivableStreets is interested in talking to bus riders and pedestrians to understand what street safety needs they would like to see in the design of this project.
*Blue Hill Ave Pedestrian and Transportation Engagement* -- The City of Boston and MBTA are working together to implement transportation and mobility improvements along Blue Hill Ave from Mattapan Square to Grove Hall. Along with Mattapan based organizations and other community based orgs. LivableStreets will be conducting some bus rider and pedestrian outreach along the corridor.
*Rapid Response Outreach* -- Sometimes things out of our control happen and we need to quickly move into action!
Policy
LivableStreets Alliance is dedicated to supporting policies at all levels of government that reflect a commitment to moving towards a better transportation system with an emphasis on equity. Our outreach initiatives help inform our policy priorities.
*Traffic + Road Safety Engagement* -- Help us talk to pedestrians, bus riders, and bike riders about what would make them feel safer.
