ACUE Certificate of Effective Online College Instruction Nashville State Community College Registration Form
Nashville State Community College supports faculty growth and is pleased to be able to provide you with an opportunity this upcoming academic year designed to enhance our campus commitment to faculty and student success. The Teaching Center at Nashville State Community College is partnering with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) to offer the Effective Online Teaching Practices course to interested full-time faculty participants.  This is the first time that NSCC has offered the Effective Online Teaching Practices course.

The Certificate of Effective College Instruction prepares college instructors to use research-based techniques shown to help students succeed in online learning, face-to-face learning, and combinations of these delivery formats, and the nationally-recognized Certificate in Effective College Instruction is endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE).  Through investment in professional development for faculty by Nashville State Community College, the ACUE Certificate of Effective College Instruction will be offered at no cost to you and will run from fall 2024 through May 2025 of the 2024-2025 academic year.

ACUE’s courses on effective online college instruction are delivered online, through a research-based learning design that is certified by Quality Matters (QM). NSCC's course will be completed over two semesters. In ACUE’s cohort-based programs, faculty learn about—and are required to implement—a comprehensive body of evidence-based teaching practices shown to improve student engagement, persistence, course completion, and learning in online learning, face-to-face learning, and combinations of these delivery formats.

Course resources include:
• Video demonstration lessons
• Video interviews with leading experts
• Planning guides and resources
• Recommended readings
• Surveys and questionnaires
• Assignments

ACUE's Certificate of Effective College Instruction is a research-based, consensus statement of the instructional skills and knowledge that every college educator should possess, regardless of mode of course delivery, discipline or type of institution. The Framework’s 25 core competencies are organized into four major areas of practice:
• Designing Learner-Centered Courses
• Promoting Active Learning Online
• Inspiring Inquiry and Lifelong Learning in Your Online Course
• Creating a Supporting Online Learning Environment

Participating faculty will complete a course launch, engage in weekly course work estimated at 2 to 3 hours, and interact with the NSCC cohort. The Teaching Center will be facilitating and organizing the ACUE program for NSCC faculty.

To participate in the cohort to earn the ACUE Certificate of Effective College Instruction through NSCC, you must complete this registration form. Registration will continue until spots are filled.  If you have any questions, please contact The Teaching Center by reaching out to Amy Bryant (amy.bryant@nscc.edu).
