FOUNDATIONS aims to faciliate student's knowledge of the history, culture and the community aspect of a dance style in addition to the teaching of dance technique and foundation. This will be taught over a 3-hour dance workshop that includes time for Q&A, video viewing and other materials.

INTRO TO AFRO:
A History of Music and Dance

OVERVIEW: This workshop is open to all those who would like to learn about and gain a deeper appreciation of Afro dance. Over the course of 3 hours, Tony will be covering both theoretical and practical aspects of Afro, going over Afro history and culture in addition to its dance and movement.

WORKSHOP CONTENT:
The 3-hour workshop aims to cover the following topics:
- What is Afro?
- What is afro music made of?
- How afro-fusion as a dance style emerged?
- Today’s challenges: appreciation, appropriation, celebration
