Parent Letter, Participation Waiver, Registration, Family Gift Suggestions

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Your child has been invited to participate in the Cedar Valley Jaycees’ annual Gift of Giving event, held in partnership with the Kiwanis Cedar Falls Rough Risers and Blain’s Farm & Fleet in Cedar Falls.  Please read and keep the following information, then complete and return the attached waiver.

Each child will be able to spend up to $40.00 on gifts for their family, at no cost to you.

Parents or guardians are responsible for dropping children off at the United Auto Worker (UAW) Hall Local 838, 2615 Washington Street, Waterloo, between 6:15 and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023.

When arriving at the UAW Hall, you must check-in your child at the table.

Any child arriving after 6:40 a.m. will NOT be allowed to participate.

Each child must bring a completed Gift Suggestion List (attached).  This is important to guide shopping.

Children will ride buses to Blain’s Farm and Fleet to shop with a volunteer, masks are required on buses.

Volunteers and children will return to the UAW Hall after shopping to wrap gifts and eat breakfast.

Children must be picked up by a parent or guardian at the UAW Hall at 9:00 a.m.

Behavior Policy: All children are expected to be on their best behavior.  If a child becomes unruly in a manner that cannot be corrected by Jaycee staff with reasonable effort, the Jaycees reserve the right to revoke the child’s shopping privileges. If this happens, the child will be sent back to the UAW hall and the child’s parent/guardian will be called to pick them up.

Severe Weather Policy: Please watch KWWL or visit www.KWWL.com  before 5:30 a.m. for event announcements.

How can you help?

Remind your child that he/she will be shopping for family members and not themselves.  Our goal is to promote the spirit of giving to others.

Help your child fill out the Gift Suggestion List.  This will help provide direction and guidance.

Dress your child appropriately for the cold weather.

We look forward to spending time with your child and wish you the very best this holiday season!

In order for your child to participate in Gift of Giving, the waiver on the following page must be signed and returned to the agency or school you were notified by, or directly to Cedar Valley Jaycees by December 1, 2023.

Contact Abby Webb (507-440-9336)  with questions.

The Jaycees MUST have this signed Participation Waiver submitted for each child prior to the morning of the event.
