Volunteering as a PTO board member is a great experience allowing you to meet Willow Grove and D96 families, helping to plan and experience some really amazing events with our Willow Grove Community. 

First, our meetings are held once/month on Wednesday during the first full week of the month August-May. The meetings start at 9am and run for anywhere from 1-2hrs. Meetings in the fall tend to run longer since there are a lot of events to plan and everyone is getting settled in their roles. The preference is for everyone to attend in person, but we will have a zoom option available for those times when someone is under the weather or has a childcare issue. Attendance is required at all meetings, as we use this time to plan events, vote on things, review our finances, etc. 

Second, we plan several “big” events/projects (Scholastic Book Fair, Dessert Day, Yearbook, Movie Night, Pizza Bingo, etc) and several “smaller” ones (stock the lounge, teacher conference meals, etc). Board members share the responsibility here by taking the lead with planning on a couple of each. There are forms we fill out after each event laying out exactly what we did to make it happen so there is a roadmap. 

Third, you have the full support of and access to other D96 PTO boards and past Willow Grove PTO board members, so if questions come up, you have a great group of people who are happy to help. 

No prior PTO board experience is required. However, you must have a student currently enrolled at Willow Grove during the 2024-25 academic year in order to serve on the PTO Executive Board or as a Committee Chair.
