GLSI Board of Directors Application

Thank you for your interest in joining the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative (GLSI) Board of Directors. GLSI accepts, on a rolling basis, applications for Independent Director seats on the board. Please complete and submit this form to apply. You can expect to receive an initial response from GLSI within a week, including details regarding any currently open seats and potential next steps. If no board seats are currently open, we will keep your application on file for future opportunities. Please note that, while much of GLSI's effort is centered in Michigan, our scope of work and impact frequently extend throughout the Great Lakes region and nationally. As such, we welcome and encourage qualified Board of Directors applicants from throughout the U.S.

A priority of the GLSI Board of Directors is to support the growth, effectiveness, and sustainability of the network of GLSI Hubs throughout the state of Michigan. This includes supporting the development of new hubs in Michigan (and possibly beyond), as well as supporting the assessment of current hub health and sustainability. Please rate your interest and ability to contribute to efforts related to GLSI's network of hubs and model for systemic growth in Place-Based Stewardship Education:

A priority of the GLSI Board of Directors is continually strengthening and growing the organization's business strategies, refining operational systems and protocols, and expanding staff capacity. Please rate your interest and ability to contribute to efforts related to governance, operations oversight, and overall organizational capacity:

A priority of the GLSI Board of Directors is fundraising for the organization by developing connections and relationships with prospective donors and supporters, and helping to lead board-level fundraising campaigns, strategies, and events. Please rate your interest and ability to contribute to fundraising efforts of the board and staff:

A priority of the GLSI Board of Directors is to increase continual board and staff development. This includes strengthening relevant board member skills and knowledge, increasing diversity and representation on the board, cultivating the next generation of GLSI Board Officers, and sustaining mentorship and support for new board members. All of these efforts are connected to the present opportunity to bring new members onto the board who are prepared to grow into leadership roles within the first year of their service. The GLSI Board of Directors meets monthly for 2 hours, alternating between committee and full-board meetings. The Board also attends an annual 2-day retreat in Michigan (virtual attendance possible) and attends/supports the bi-annual National Place-Based Education Conference, which is hosted by GLSI. Does this general scope of commitment align with your anticipated capacity to serve on the board during an initial 2-year term?  *
