SwimSafer Stage for Test: 

1. SwimSafer Stage 1
2. SwimSafer Stage 4 (Bronze) 

Test Requirements:

1. SwimSafer Stage 1:

Sequence 1A (w/o goggles):
1. Enter the water with slide-in entry
2. Swim on the back 5m (alternating arms and legs
or simultaneous arms and legs)
3. Submerge head in water, open eyes, blow bubbles
and identify object on pool floor
4. Perform a front float for 5 seconds and recover
5. Then perform a back float for 5 seconds and
recover
6. Swim 10m on the front (alternating arms and legs
or simultaneous arms and legs)
7. Signal distress and call for help
8. Grasp a float and float for 10 seconds
9. Then move (with the float) to the pool’s edge and
10. Exit safely from pool

Sequence 1B (w/o goggles):
Dressed in swimwear, shorts and t-shirt,
1. correctly fit a PFD, jump into water
2. Float for 30 seconds, and then climb out of the
water

2. SwimSafer Bronze: 

Swim 100m (4 strokes) continuously:
- 25m front crawl
- 25m backstroke
- 25m breaststroke
- 25m survival backstroke

Sequence 4A (w/o goggles):
1. Enter the water using a compact jump (in deep water), resurface, perform a forward somersault
2. Tread water for 2 min
3. In 1.4m deep water, perform feet-first surface dive,
4. Swim through hoops on pool bottom for 2m,
5. Resurface and exit safely from pool

Sequence 4B (w/o goggles):
Dressed in swimwear, shorts and t-shirt demonstrate:
1. 3 min swimming slowly using survival backstroke, sidestroke and survival breaststroke changing every 15m
2. Wave and call for help (rescuer to throw floatation aid)
3. Swim to a flotation aid and kick to pool’s edge, then climb out of water
