The Orchid Society is a young professional network of African American women serving as positive role models for young minority girls in the New Orleans metro area through mentoring, community service and social awareness programming.  Through our events and initiatives, we hope to empower our community so that our mentees can begin empowering their peers.  We believe that it begins with the leaders of today to shape the future for leaders of tomorrow.  

Since its inception, The Orchid Society has expanded its youth focused approach and adapted it to meet a more holistic approach. Recognizing that New Orleans youth do not live, obtain their education, and play in a vacuum, but rather, their daily lives are vastly influenced by the communities in which they thrive, we have expanded our focus beyond our interpersonal relationships with our mentees.

​Girls enter the program between the ages of 10-12 and participate until the age of 18.

Much of our programming and activities seek to enhance the community in which we live. Our goal is to create a community that fosters the positive development of youth. We understand that this will require a concerted effort of multiple generations. We are committed to ensuring that this inter-generational work is at the forefront of our efforts.

Orchids are young professional African American women who have a passion for dedicating time to the development of these young ladies.  The Orchid Society remains diligent and committed to nurturing the dynamic development of the city of New Orleans and its world class citizenry.
