HUGPT F24 Therapist Application Form
APPLICATION DUE BY Wednesday, May 1st at 11:59PM ET.

What is HUGPT?
HUGPT (Harvard Undergraduate Group Peer Therapy) is a student group that provides a mental health care option between CAMHS and peer counseling. We follow a clinically-validated model of therapy called interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) that emphasizes building healthy and fulfilling relationships to foster better mental health. In our past three semesters of operations, as a CAMHS-supervised program, we have served 30+ students and provided over 100 hours of psychotherapy. We play a different role than CAMHS and the peer counseling groups. Unlike CAMHS, we emphasize group peer support where you can be around and learn from other students facing similar challenges. Unlike peer counseling groups, we emphasize continuous care rather than drop-in support during crisis periods.

What would being a peer therapist entail?
- Co-leading one to two IPT therapy groups of ~6-8 students for the semester (new therapists may also observe groups, depending on their comfort level)
- Building up the future of HUGPT (ex: discussing strategy, leading one-off workshops for residential houses, etc.)
- 6 hours/week (2-3 hours of therapy, 1 hour of CAMHS supervision, 1-2 hour strategy/other)
- Helping us pub for new group members (sending emails over house lists, hanging up flyers, tabling at events, etc.)

What will the interview process entail?
After this initial form, we will have 1-2 interviews to better understand your interest and availability for HUGPT as well as your style of emotional support.

What else should I know?
If you are selected, you will need to move in to campus early for two days of in-person CAMHS-wide training, likely in the week before classes start. All Harvard students providing some amount of peer mental health support (ie: us and the other peer counseling groups) are required to attend this training. Additionally, during the first two weeks of school, we will be scheduling a few hours of training in peer counseling techniques and interpersonal psychotherapy strategies + role plays so be prepared for that!
