A short summary background to the Community Safety Champions Skills Solution Programme:

The Programme specifically centres on improving socio-economic conditions in communities through a 4-Phased Skills Solution basket of training Programmes that focusses on first-responder (first aid and fire-fighting) skills, managing personal finance, mental wellness coping skills, entrepreneurship with accompanying mentorship linked to business model choices that centre around the common theme of sustainable living linked to healthier, safer, financially active and cleaner-communities.

The Programme is designed as a 'cradle to grave long term, inter-connected strategic intervention' with one common, subtly profiled vision described as the 'new do good Community Safety Champion influencers that actively support and operate in communities in need across the Western Cape’.

The Programme’s roots and existence was mandated by community, religious, SMME and NGO leaders who operate in communities with serious crime challenges compounded by the high rate of youth unemployment, gender based violence (GBV), xenophobic violence, bullying, marginalising people with disabilities and learners with learning challenges

Whilst it is common knowledge that these social ills are real life challenges no matter what the LSM market and / or living area but also amplified by new formal and informal settlements ‘springing up’ across the Cape often in and around higher LSM markets thus the issues addressed by the Programme solution affects and benefits everyone.

The Programme was also designed to support the mandate that it must be a long term, evolving solution as there are no quick – fix solutions to the narrative of 'the only way out is to join a gang to survive financially'.
