"In processing"

In recent years, we have tended to tag any incoming MARC loads (from vendors) as "in processing" when we load those into your catalog. Since we can't actually see the shipments, that gives you the time to handle and tweak anything before they go on shelves. However, we are discovering recently that when we do that, those items are not filtering up into the union catalog until their status is changed to "active". There are many items in our OPALS catalogs right now that are "in processing", which may have been that way for a while. Any feedback you can give us on this would be great!

Do you like having new MARC records marked "in processing" in your catalog?

Yes! It gives me the chance to go through them before putting them out on shelves.

No. I don't have time/don't know how to change them from "in processing" to "active".

I am not aware that there might be items marked as "in processing" in my catalog.

What would you like us to do with existing items? Right now we have lots of records in catalogs that are not filtering up to the union. Please click more than one box to give us a sense of what to do with past records, as well as new ones in the future.

Yes, please switch any previously imported records to "active".

I like "in processing", and prefer to change their status individually on my own.

Did you know you can "set it and forget it" in terms of automatically updating student rosters, as well as Google authentication to sign in to OPALS? Do you wish to pursue either of those?

Yes! I'd love to "set it and forget it" if I can and have new students appear in the catalog automatically.

Self-reserve feature: If you can see orange buttons under titles in your catalog, it means that users in your building can self-request items, and you should receive alerts when users request items for you to fill or reject. Do you want those orange buttons to be "on" in your catalog?

Yes! I would like users to be able to request items.

No. You can turn that feature off.

I would like to learn more about the self-reserve feature. I think it might be helpful.

I do not want students to self-renew titles on their own.
