Indigenous Peoples' Day: Rooting & Remembering
Monday, October 10 | 4:00 pm - 7 pm
Location: Three Sisters Garden (between Palmer & Piccolo Hall)
Sponsored by: Intercultural Center & Office of Sustainability

Celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day is an opportunity to root ourselves in a deeper, more reflective history of the Americas. The day is a reclamation of Columbus Day, which provides an opportunity to bring awareness to the resilience of Native people against the forces of colonialism. At its worst, colonialism severs the relationship between humanity and nature, causing us to forget our obligations to one another and the earth. This results in oppression, injustice, and violence. When we return to the land, we are able to remember peace and heal.

Join Wake Forest's Intercultural Center and Office of Sustainability in celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day through a planting session in the Three Sisters Garden, a shared meal catered by Native Root and a talking circle led by Mahlea Hunt ('23).
