RESPONSIBILITIES
- One submission per person, 13 years of age, or older. Submission received is considered final work and cannot be edited and resubmitted at a later date.
- You must have a library card issued by DC Public Library to enter. (https://www.dclibrary.org/getacard)
- Entries must be the writer's own work and may not be submitted without the writer’s knowledge and consent. No previously published works or works accepted for publication elsewhere will be accepted.
- You must hold all rights to your submission, including the right to provide the eBook to DC Public Library for use in the collection.
- In order to consider your submission, your eBook must remain available on the self-publishing site (Smashwords, Draft2Digital or Kobo Writing Life) through August 2019. A chapter, or its equivalent, will be read for judging purposes.
- You agree your eBook may be mentioned and publicized in any library brochure, print ad, direct mail piece, social media, electronic media, (e.g. video, Internet, website) or other form of promotion without remuneration or further consent.
- There will be no monetary compensation or license fee provided for submissions beyond royalties from regular book sales.
- Submissions must be entered by 11:59 p.m. EST, Sunday, June 30, 2019.
- Selected authors will be notified by phone or email.
- All decisions by the judging committee are final.
