Learning Options 2021-22
We are busy preparing for the 2021-22 academic year and applying our district’s student and family needs to last week’s guidance from the Washington Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) to determine learning options for our families. For us to prepare curriculum, staffing and structure, we need to gather preliminary information from all of you.

The following information is intended to be an overview, followed by a survey that is for informational purposes only and is not a binding decision. We will be sending more specific information on the remote options for both K-5 (continuous learning 2.0+) and 6-12 (Mead Virtual Program) in June, followed by a survey in July in which we’ll ask you to make a final decision on the learning option for your child(ren).

All students in the Mead School District will have access to full-time, in-person learning, and we will encourage families to have their children in the classroom. For those that would like to explore a remote option and meet the requirements to do so, see below for more information based on grade level.

Reminder: This survey is intended for all families in the Mead School District and is not a binding decision on your child’s learning option for 2021-22. This survey will close Monday, May 31 at 5 p.m.

For Grades K-5: Continuous Learning 2.0+

This option, for students in grades K-5, is directed at families seeking additional flexibility in student learning.  Due to the health and safety needs of students and their families, the Continuous Learning 2.0+ option will afford the opportunity for learning from home.  We will be working on specific eligibility requirements for students to participate in this option to assure that you are able to make the best decision for your child’s education during the upcoming school year.

Here are the pillars of the program:
- Available for students K-5
- Dedicated Mead teaching staff with built-in support services
- Balance of live and asynchronous instruction, with the majority of the school day occurring live via Zoom
- Access to all related programs, supports, and services available to students

For Grades 6-12: Mead Virtual Program

The Mead Virtual Program (MVP) is an educational option launching in Fall 2021 for Grades 6-12 for students and families who desire flexibility in their learning. The District is currently working hard on developing the structure, curriculum and staffing.

Here are pillars of the program:
- Available for students 6-12
- Dedicated Virtual Program teaching staff with built-in support services
- Delivered entirely online with students learning at their own pace
- Instruction is flexible and asynchronous, meaning that students can receive on-demand learning
