Relationships and Sex Education Parent Views Secondary
In 2020 the Government made Relationships and Sex Education compulsory in all secondary schools in England, as well as making Health Education compulsory in all state-funded schools. The key decisions on these subjects have been informed by a thorough engagement process, including a public call for evidence that received over 23,000 responses from parents, young people, schools and experts and a public consultation where over 40,000 people contacted the Department for Education.

The Government are clear that parents and carers are the prime educators for children on many of these matters. Our school aims to complement and reinforce this role and would like to build on what pupils learn at home as an important part of delivering a good education.

In order to support the personal development and pastoral needs of our pupils, we would like to gain your views in order to make the subject deliverable and give us the flexibility to shape our RSE curriculum according to the needs of our pupils and community.

Parents have the right to request that their child be withdrawn from some or all of sex education delivered as part of statutory RSE.

The areas of the curriculum proposed by the Government have been listed below, please comment your thoughts on what you think should be covered, as well as any individual needs of your child which needs to be addressed through this curriculum.
