The Slay Squad is the student leadership team of Covenant Student ministries. To be a student leader is to be someone who commits to living out their calling as a servant of God in Christ. To be on the Slay Team is to take charge in fulfilling the mission that God has given His children to make disciples. It is a year or semester commitment to grow in Christ as a leader as you help move Covenant Student Ministry forward in making disciples.
A Student Leader is:- 8-12 grade
- A regular attendee of Covenant Student Ministries programming and events
- A baptized believer and follower of Jesus and a committed part of CSM
- Shows a desire for personal growth in Christ
- Regularly praying and reading the Bible (or at least trying)
- Accepting of others
- Authentic and transparent
- Humble
- Positive attitude
- Role model to other students
- Helpful and serving
- Unashamed of the ministry, church, or Jesus
- Committed to Covenant Student Ministry and the church
Expectations:
- Influence others through serving
- Attend meetings when held
- Maintain a strong attendance to programming and make it a priority in your life; striving to participate in church worship, Sunday school, Mid-Week, Small Groups, Loft, service projects, retreats, and trips whenever possible
- Wholeheartedly commits to developing as a leader
- Buy in to the program and understand what we are trying to do at CSM
- Encourage others to worship, participate
- Create hype around events and Loft
- Promote the Covenant Student Ministry brand via social media
- Plan events and retreats
A Student Leader who is Committed is:
- Has a sense of ownership in the ministry
- Looks out for loners and visitors
- Brings friends to programs
- Involved at all major events
- Committed to the unity of the student ministry
- Models appropriate behavior
- Understands why we do what we do
- Speaks highly of staff and other student leaders (if there is a concern, you take it to Jeff and discuss with him
Areas the Slay squad will serve:
- Social Media - help Jeff manage the presence of the Covenant Student Ministries brand on social media. Via Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok
- Tech - Run the computer, sound, and lights. i.e., slides, music, screen games, lights, sound
- Worship - Help plan worship experiences for Loft and other events/retreats (This will be done as the whole group)
- Games - With Jeff, come up with games for Sunday nights (or Wednesday nights). All play games, team games, 1 on 1 games, screen games, gym games, etc.) Run said game at event (unless you want to participate)
- Communication - Send announcements, hype, and buildup in group text. Also do announcements every Sunday night at Loft
- Events/Retreat Planning - Help plan our events and retreats (This will be done as the whole group)
- Photo/Video - This goes alongside social media. You will work together closely. Take quality pictures and videos at Loft and other events.
