2019-2020 GLLF Leadership Academy               Law Students Application
The GLLF Leadership Academy and Mentoring Program is designed to provide Latino/a law students in Georgia with a deeper understanding of their leadership skills and their place within the legal community. Participants are also matched with a mentor who has committed to supporting and guiding the mentee throughout the academic year and the job search process.

Applicants are required to review the program dates and to ensure they will be available to attend. The mentoring orientation is required. If that date is an excused absence, it must be made up in order to obtain a mentor. Only one absence is permitted and, unless in case of emergency, participants must notify the GLLF two weeks prior to the event if they cannot attend. Programs usually take place from 6-8:30 pm.

Leadership Academy Program Dates:

September 25, 2019 – Mentoring Program Orientation

Mentoring Program Commitment
If chosen to participate, I will be required to attend the Leadership Academy programs, which are scheduled as follows:

September 25, 2019 – Mentoring Program Orientation
October 22, 2019
January 23, 2020
March 12, 2020 – Networking Event

Upon completion of the Mentoring Orientation, you will be paired with a practicing attorney. Together you will be required to complete the following:

• Be in contact at least once a month (either by email, phone or in-person)

• Meet in person at least four times in the academic year.

Out of those four times: 1) One meeting may be a Georgia Hispanic Bar Association or Georgia Latino Law Foundation event; and 1) One meeting must include an activity related to your practice area. i.e. a deposition, court appearance, client meeting, office visit, shadow you for a day, etc.

• Submit feedback reports describing your meetings with your mentor based on the assigned discussion topics.

•  Submit an end-of-year evaluation to help us assess the program.

Graduation from the program will be dependent on completion of all requirements.
My commitment *
I agree to abide by the guidelines outlined above. I understand that it will be my responsibility to drive this mentoring relationship. I agree to be respectful, responsive and engaged. In the event that I cannot longer participate in the mentoring program at any point throughout the academic year, I agree to let the GLLF and my mentor know immediately.
