The 2021 Summer Chemistry Course will be hosted at PHS from 6/28/21 - 8/04/21. We will not have class on Monday, 7/05/21.  Students will need to bring their own lunch. We will meet from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Students should take this course if they are looking to advance and take AP Chemistry as sophomores and do not have any chemistry lab science experience. This course is also designed for students who are underrepresented in AP Chemistry and may or may not have prior chemistry lab experience.

Taking this course does not guarantee placement into AP Chemistry or AP Biology, students need to be successful in the course to advance. All students taking AP Chemistry need to have chemistry lab experience prior to entering the course. Only PHS students are allowed to take the Accelerated Summer Chemistry course at PHS.

Interest forms are due by April 16th. In order to be eligible to apply, students must have met the following requirements:
1. Students who have successfully completed Chemistry 1: At least a B in Chemistry 1 and a B in Algebra II Accelerated (or A- in Algebra II)
2. Students who have never taken a high school Chemistry course: At least an A in Biology 1 or A- in Biology 1 Accelerated and A in Algebra II Accelerated  

Due to the overwhelming response we have received in the past years, not all students who meet the above requirements will be accepted as we can only accommodate a limited number of spots. You will receive an email back by April 30th if you are accepted with the required permission slips. Checks and permission slips will be due May 14th. The cost of the program this year will be $1600. The program payment will be used to run this program, scholarships, and other science department programs/costs. *Scholarships for the program, including lunch, are available based on financial need.
