Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” ~ Howard Thurman.
“That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.” ~Matthew 13:1
There is much that can be said about the past two and a half years. One apt descriptor most can relate to is
disorienting. We have been through a lot and as we pause and take stock of our lives, we might feel things have shifted, and our direction and focus become confused. In the spirit of reorientation, join us on this all-church retreat where we will spend the gift of a day together focused on
finding center. Come enjoy some time contemplating what is most sacred and important to you at this point in your life. Focus on the “divine core” – on who the Spirit is calling you to be, on what is essential, and how your values, choices, plans and actions might better flow from that pivot point. Join us as we return to beautiful natural landscapes and comfortable gathering spaces of Glastonbury Abbey in Hingham, just a mile or so from the sea.
Join us as we live into the hymn’s lyric, “come and find the room for hope to enter, find the frame where we are freed.” - What tools or ideas or places might best serve you in this journey of seeking center?
- In what daily ways might God be inviting you back to the source of that which brings life, vitality, love, peace and joy?
- Are there practices & ideas you have lost touch with and would like to refocus on?
- Are there new practices that have emerged you would like to further develop?
- How does finding center relate to our own sacred and aging bodies – in finding balance, rhythm, and more love of ligament, limits and potential in this topsy-turvy world?
- What ways might more community and more solitude support your journey?
- How might deeper engagement or deeper interior work help?
- In the process of finding center, what 3 things rise to the top of your “to-do” list that will help you feel better “on track”?
