Black History Month: Djembe Drumming and African Movement

Join us for a two-day workshop, The Magic of African Rhythm w/ Teli Shabu, where you will explore the Djembe culture of West Africa, its history, cultural context, and its evolution. Participants will play Djembes, learn how to hold down a multilayered, traditional rhythm, move their bodies and enjoy the dance movements that connect to the rhythm they have just played on the drum.  

Registration is required.

  • Date: Tuesday and Wednesday, February 7th and 8th; 3pm - 5pm 
  • Location: Witherspoon Student Center (Sankofa Room- 126)
