Dear Temple Har Zion members,
As we remember our deceased and contemplate our own mortality, Rabbi Glick and Yakira Levi would like to invite our members to join the West Suburban Chevra Kadish (WSCK) to take part in the powerful mitzvah of Taharah.
The West Suburban Chevra Kadisha (WSCK) was established in 2013 by then Temple Har Zion Rabbi Robin Damsky and Cantor Julie Yugend-Green of Oak Park Temple. The volunteer group of members is from both temples in the West Suburbs. The mission is to tend to the ritual washing and purification of the deceased from both congregations by a dedicated and egalitarian team of volunteers.
Over the past few years, our Temple Har Zion presence in our West Suburban Chevra Kadisha has severely declined, with Oak Park Temple taking the lead on membership and Taharah responsibilities. As we enter the new year, we ask that Temple Har Zion members consider stepping up to join the team and take part in this powerful practice, by filling out this form and hitting the submit button below.
We would also like to reintroduce Taharah services to our temple members. If a Temple Har Zion member has passed away or if you would like to request the future Taharah for yourself or a family member please contact our Chevra Kadisha liaison to request Taharah using this same form. Our Temple Har Zion partnership in the West Suburban Chevra Kadisha is here to help. If you have additional questions, comments or concerns please contact us via email at: chevrakadisha.team@gmail.com
