A person highly interested in helping to improve the Chicago-Calumet River system for people, plants, and animals. A person conscious of environmental impact, seeking to improve environmental health and community. A highly motivated and organized person. Someone interested in leading a team to fundraise $3,000 by August 31, 2023. Spirit Team captains must be at least 21 years old as of July 23, 2023 

Beyond fundraising for your team on behalf of Friends of the Chicago River, a Spirit Team shows up with spirit and floats down the Chicago River. Dress up as your favorite River Creature. Decorate your floaties in an environmentally conscious way. Share kindness, spirit, and cheer. 

All spirit wave captains and all participants on a team, must still individually register for this event on chicagoriver.org. There are important waivers and information per registration. If your spirit team is selected, all individuals are eligible for a registration fee refund if the $3,000 fundraising goal is reached. 

Only one captain per team need apply. Please do not have all spirited members apply. 

Apply to be a captain by June 15, 2023.
