Join the Film Festival Department on Tuesday, January 25, at 11:30 am Pacific // 2:30 pm Eastern for a Q&A with Brazilian filmmaker Gustavo Milan, writer/director of the Oscar-shortlisted drama UNDER THE HEAVENS.
This powerful drama is currently shortlisted for the 2022 Oscar in the Best Live Action short category, and it has had an impressive festival run: Telluride, Miami Film Festival, Florida Film Festival, Brooklyn Film Festival, and won the DGA Award for Best Latino Student Film.

ABOUT UNDER THE HEAVENS:
"Seiva Bruta / Under the Heavens" is a short about the pain of abandonment, and how the current political crisis in Venezuela has strongly impacted the structure and stability of Venezuelan families. It follows the story of a Venezuelan mother whose ability to breastfeed causes her fate to be forever intertwined with a young mother and her baby, while immigrating to Brazil to find work to support their families.
In Spanish and Portuguese with English subtitles.
