The purposes of the Student Virginia Education Association (SVEA), Virginia Peninsula Chapter are to:

inform and educate its membership on educational issues of immediate and potential importance in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the nation
Foster and coordinate the development of chapters affiliated with the SVE
Provide an opportunity for students to explore education as a profession, to evaluate their own aptitudes, capabilities, interests as prospective professional educators
To encourage the selection of education as a profession
To strengthen the teaching profession by encouraging pre-professionals to become active members in the United Education Profession
To establish a closer relationship between chapters of the SVEA, National Education Association Student Programs (NEASP), Virginia Education Association (VEA) and the National Education Association (NEA)
To promote and protect human and civil rights.
