SJSU Graduate Admission Deferral Request (Spring 2024)

The California State University Chancellor’s Office has allowed San Jose State University to provide a deferral of admission option to some students admitted for graduate study in Spring 2024 who face personal or COVID-related hardship which preclude them from attending any college or university in the Spring 2024 semester. Only one deferral request will be accepted per student, so consider the information in your request carefully.

There are some programs that are not allowing deferral of their admitted students because each graduate program has unique needs regarding staffing of their classes and specific curricular requirements in order to maintain the high quality of instruction. You can review that list of programs here.

The available term for deferral is Fall 2024.

The deadline to submit this SJSU Graduate Admission Deferral Request is Friday, January 19, 2024. Requests will no longer be accepted after this date. Early submission is highly recommended.

Please note, DO NOT reapply through Cal State Apply if you have an active deferral request with SJSU.
