Volunteer With Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture
Blue Ridge Women in Agriculture (BRWIA) is a women-led organization that builds an equitable, sustainable High Country local food system by supporting producers and cultivating community connections that educate, inspire, and increase the demand for local food. The Food Hub and the Farmers Market connect local consumers with fresh produce, meat, dairy, bread, artisan foods, cut flowers, body care products, and plants from producers within 100 miles of Boone.  

BRWIA utilizes volunteers to assist with the High High Country Food Hub, our year-round online farmers' market, at select King Street Farmers Markets, and at special events throughout the year.

The Food Hub is located at, 252 Poplar Grove Rd, Boone, in the Watauga Agricultural Conference Center.

Food Hub Volunteers are needed each Wednesday from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm. 2-3 hour shifts are preferred. Mornings are for sorting orders and afternoons are when we pull orders and deliver them to customers waiting outside. which includes some heavy lifting (under 40 lb). Food Hub volunteers should dress comfortably, wear comfortable, non-slip, close-toed shoes, and bring cold-weather gear as you will be tasked with pulling orders from the walk-in freezer. We keep coats, hats and gloves on hand in case you forget!
