Thank you for your interest in the JC Schools Parents as Teachers program! We serve families who live within the Jefferson City School District attendance area, so please check with your local school district to enroll if you live elsewhere.
We are a parent education program designed to give you, as your child's first and most influential teacher, the support you need to help your child learn, grow, and develop to reach their full potential. We offer the following services to families with children birth to age 5 (not yet kindergarten eligible) and expectant parents:
1. Personalized home visits to support you as a parent. During home visits a certified parent educator will partner with you to set and reach goals for your child and family, discuss a variety of child development and parenting topics, and share a parent-child activity chosen especially for your family.
2. Group Connection events where parents and children come together to participate in a variety of activities, or parents come to receive information from speakers on a variety of topics.
3. Annual health, hearing, vision, and developmental screening for each child aged three months through five years (not yet in kindergarten) who is enrolled in the program.
4. Information on local resources and family-friendly events shared on visits, via our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JCSchoolsPAT) and in a monthly emailed newsletter.
