Dance Camp October 2023

Students will have the opportunity to participate in Hip-hop, Contemporary, Jazz and Acro dance classes. Their work will be put towards a video-recorded and in-person performance for friends and families to be shown at the end of the camp.

Classes will be taught by Kessia Neal, Lauren Popham, and Kelsie Skelton. All with passion, energy and love for dance to make each class fun, challenging and exciting for every student. 

The Important Details:

Date: Thursday 13th - Friday 14th of October 2022

Time: 9am - 3pm each day

Where: Stadium 2000 Dance Studios, Marlborough

Who: Everyone aged 8 to 16 years old

Cost: $65 per student

The Team:

- Kelsie qualified NZAMD dance teacher with a Bachelor of Dance Studies (Honours) with a background of multiple international performances. I have been dancing for 18 years and teaching over the past 5 years.

- Kessia will be teaching our Hip hop classes has been dancing with MAD for 15 years doing various styles, until finding her passion for Hiphop. This year she teaches a troupe and a couple of grade classes. She also competes with her crew at competitions - for which they are going to nationals

- Lauren has been dancing for 14 years during which she has learnt jazz, hip hop, contemporary and acro. She has been teaching dance for the last three years. Lauren has recently completed her Solo Performance Diploma in Jazz.

This dance camp is run in conjunction with Marlborough Academy of Dance.

How it Works:

Students will split into groups appropriate to their age, ability and previous experience. Groups will rotate through a selection of classes and combine for full camp activities and classes such as warm-ups and choreography classes. Further details including specific classes and timetable will be sent on the 10th of October.

The Showcase:

This will be a classroom-style showcase for families to come and see the work the students have learnt during the camp. This will start at 2:30 pm on Friday 14th of October. The Showcase will also be recorded for any family who can not make it in-person. The video will be uploaded to youtube and will only be able to be seen with the link you will receive. 

What to Wear:

Students should wear tight clothing that is comfortable to move in. No jeans, dresses or skirts. Hair is to be tied up and no jewellery is to be worn. These guidelines are with your children's safety and comfort in mind.

Food:

The students will be active and need some good energy! Please pack a water bottle, substantial lunch and some healthy snacks for your child on both days. We will provide some treats.

Refunds:

If your circumstances change and your child/children can no longer come to Dance Camp, refunds are possible until 12:00 pm on the 12th of October. 

Covid:

Dance Camp - October 2022 will run within the latest government covid-19 guidelines at all times.
