Parent and Guardian Pick Up Waiver for SY 2020-21
On June 25, 2020, the USDA issued COVID–19: Child Nutrition Response #35, Nationwide Waiver to Allow Parents and Guardians to Pick Up Meals for Children - Extension #2, for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), School Breakfast Program (SBP) and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

On August 31, 2020, the USDA issued COVID-19: Child Nutrition Response #55, Nationwide Waiver to Allow Parents and Guardians to Pick Up Meals for Children - Extension #4 for the National School Lunch Program Seamless Summer Option (SSO) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

On October 9, 2020, the USDA issued COVID-19: Child Nutrition Response # 62, Nationwide Wavier to  Allow Parents and Guardians to Pick Up Meals for Children - EXTENSION 5.

On March 9, 2021, the USDA issued COVID-19: Child Nutrition Response #75  Nationwide Waiver to Allow Non-Congregate Feeding for Summer 2021 Operations.


Under normal circumstances, it is intended that program operators provide meals directly to children. However, FNS recognizes the need for parents and guardians to pick up meals at non-congregate meal sites to assist with the goal of providing meals while also taking appropriate safety measures.

This form applies to the NSLP and SBP, along with agencies administering the SSO, but do note the different end dates.

This waiver is effective July 1, 2020 and expires September 30, 2021 for the Seamless Summer Option (SSO).
If operating National School Lunch Program (NSLP), this waiver expires June 30, 2021.
