Personal Device Policy - Parent/Guardian
Christ King School strongly prefers that students bring NO technology with them to school. They have no need of personal devices during the school day (including watches that can send/receive messages), so any devices will simply be stored by the classroom teacher. If students need a device for medical reasons or for after-school emergency use, parents must approve of the device being at school, and the following procedure applies:

At the start of the day, students will give their smart phones/watches/devices to their homeroom teacher. The device must be powered down completely. The homeroom teacher will place these devices in a secure location for the remainder of the day. At the end of the day, students will retrieve the devices which must remain off until exiting the building at dismissal time. It is the student’s responsibility to turn the phone over to the teacher at the beginning of the day AND the student’s responsibility to get the phone at the end of the day. As stated in existing school policy, the school will not be held responsible for breakage or theft of such articles.

If a phone call must be made during the school day, students will use the phone in the school office. Any student found with a device at any point during the school day will have it confiscated. The principal will contact the student’s parents or guardians to arrange for a time in the future (not the same day) to return the phone directly to the parents.

If parents or guardians wish to give permission for a student to bring a device to school, please complete the last portion of this form. Include the number associated with the phone/device. Signing the agreement indicates that the family has reviewed and understood these procedures for possessing phones/devices during the school day.
