Sept 23rd Climate Strike Volunteer Sign-Up

Thank you for your interest in supporting our young climate strikers!

The central strike will begin at 12pm at Waterfront Park. We will gather at Waterfront Park at 12pm, then march to City Hall, arriving at 12:30pm. There, we will meet San Diego High School Students to rally, listen to speakers, enjoy music–and stage an oil spill and die-in.

We will also be supporting climate strikes at schools throughout San Diego on September 23rd, which will occur during school hours.

How can you support the strike prior to the event?

Complete artwork from art builds (September 11th from 1-4pm at Kate Sessions Park)

Deliver artwork and printed materials to schools and organizers (driving, Sept 20-22)

Outreach - Pass out flyers in high-traffic areas (now - Sept 22)

Help arrange logistics, make press calls, other planning and prep tasks

Promote the event by posting on my social media, texts, emails, calls

Greet strike attendees and sign them in (highest volunteer need)

Sound system and equipment setup

Sound system take down

Hang banners prior to strike

Serve as a marshal to keep participants safe during marches

Photograph strike at main event or at schools around the county

Livestream main event or at schools around the county

Post photos / short videos on social media from main event or at schools around county

Distribute signs and banners, organize artwork, and collect at end

Chant leader (ideally students!)

Staff a t-shirt and information table

Be part of the "die in"

Dress up as Big Oil (black suit and nametag) and pour fake petroleum on people

Have fake petroleum poured on you
