UMB Latinx Gala Committee
The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) would like to partner with the students from the different UMB schools in order to host the first ever campus wide Latinx gala in order to celebrate Latinx success and achievements in being in these various professions.

In the United States, 20% of the population identify as Latinx and is quickly growing. However, only 4-6% of all doctors, lawyers, dentists, pharmacists, and nurses identify as Latinx which is a large discrepancy in being able to support our community in these areas. While 12% of our social workers nationwide identify as Latinx, there is still an immense gap considering social work encompasses a variety of different areas of focus. This gala would create a safe space for our UMB community to celebrate the Latinx achievements and culture, congratulate those who are graduating, honor our Latinx faculty, and simply share this moment with the rest of our peers as well.

The UMB Latinx Gala is set for Friday April 5th, 2024 from 6-9pm and we need all the help in order to have this event be a success! If interested in joining and/or leading one of these committees, fill out the form below by Friday November 24th at 11:59pm.
