The canid and hyenid husbandry course is a three-day class that covers the husbandry of the four large canids (painted dogs, Mexican wolves, American red wolves, maned wolves) and the one hyena species (spotted hyena) managed by the AZA Canid and Hyenid TAG as SSPs.

This year the course will be hosted by Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose, Texas on November 2-4 (with the icebreaker in the evening on November 1).

Course topics include, but not limited to:
Nutrition
Veterinary care
Reproduction and contraception
Social structure and aggression
Safety
Training
Enrichment
Basic husbandry
Capture and restraint methods

Registration Information
Class size is limited to 30 participants so please register early. Priority will be given to canid and hyenid caretakers and managers. Please do not book your hotel or flights until you have been confirmed for the class.

Registration is $125/person and includes:

Access to all classes
Icebreaker

Lunches during the three days of the course
Snacks and drinks
Tour of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center
Name tag and jump drive

All course materials are provided on a jump drive; students are encouraged to bring a laptop with them.
