Kōrakonui School Learning Leader 2021
Thank you for applying for the Learning Leader (Deputy Principal) position at Kōrakonui School commencing January 2021.

Kōrakonui School first opened in 1911, and very much is the hub of a supportive community.  Kōrakonui is located South of Te Awamutu, and is in the middle of Te Awamutu and Otorohanga.  Kōrakonui is surrounded by beautiful farmland, and many of our families are from rural, farming environments.  Our families are extremely supportive, and we currently have a roll of 159 students.  Our school is well resourced, and with good facilities.  The ethnic composition of the school is 78% NZ European, 20% NZ Maori and the remaining 2% are of Asian, Dutch and Afrikaans origin.  Our grounds are attractively laid out and include paved areas, two adventure playgrounds, two courts, large field area and a heated swimming pool.  

Currently four collaborative learning spaces (ILEs) are in operation – split into a junior, middle and senior teams.  We provide excellent opportunities for top quality learning and a wide range of sporting, cultural and social activities.  Our staff are dedicated professionals who support each other collegially and collaboratively.  They readily accept responsibilities and contribute fully to the corporate life of the school.  All staff are provided opportunites to grow professionally.

Our programmes are consistent with the New Zealand Curriculum, and are designed to be learner centred, differentiated to cater for the specific needs of each individual student.  Student agency and engagement is valued, developed and celebrated.  Teachers are expected to work collaboratively and to contribute to the running of our school by providing high quality learning experiences, and opportunities for our students.  We have a culture of reflective practice, and teachers are encouraged to be innovative in their pursuit of designing quality programmes that meet the diverse needs of their learners.  Kōrakonui School is committed to providing opportunities that equip our students to operate fluently as 21st Century learners and citizens.
