Sonic Architecture of Belfast
Workshop with Marie-Thérèse Davis
Summer 2021

Join our free workshops with Marie- Thérèse Davis and explore the spaces we occupy as part of Accessing Architecture: Disability and Belfast’s Built Heritage by the University of Atypical. This workshop is funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund Northern Ireland and is a creative project that explores the history of the disabled community in Belfast through the city’s built, industrial and cultural environments.

Overview
Sensing our city. We celebrate our capital city by exploring the sights, sounds, textures, rhythms, tastes of our chosen routes as we navigate our personal journeys through it. Thinking of Belfast, or indeed, your local area, consider what makes it different to other places. What is distinctive about it? Focusing on the built environment and the impact it has on our society, can we determine the characteristics of our towns and cities and especially, how they impact upon our lives as those identifying as disabled.

Goals
To explore our city/local areas using our senses.
To create a multi-sensory soundscape which will allow the visitor to explore the city and its architecture.
