APPLICATION PROCESS
Step 1: Attend our Online Information SessionInformation sessions provide an opportunity for students and families/supporters to find out more about how the Gateway to College program works, the benefits, of the program, and what is expected of students.
Step 2: Complete and Submit the ApplicationFor an application to be complete, the following items must be submitted:
-Fully completed and SIGNED application
-Parent/guardian signature if you're under 18-All THREE essays (
at least 300 words)
-Completed Consent to Release Information Form (
be sure to include a parent/guardian name on the list)
-Completed School District Information Form (so we can obtain information from your high school)
-Name and email address for one person you would like to provide a recommendation for you
Step 3: Placement TestingOnce you have submitted a completed application and we have received all required paperwork, Gateway staff will schedule you to take the college placement test and contact you with appointment details. Applicants who score at an eighth-grade level or higher will continue in the application process.
Step 4: Applicant Info Sent to District Applicant information will be submitted to the school district for approval to move forward in the application process (for those students who score at an 8th-grade level or higher on the placement test).
Step 5: Individual Interview
Eligible applicants approved by the school district, will be scheduled for a personal interview.
Step 6: Gateway Prep and Final Review
The final step to be officially accepted for the scholarship is to complete Gateway Prep (a three-day college prep session) and receive final approval from the school district. Remember, this is a scholarship opportunity. Acceptance is not guaranteed. Space is limited.
**All applicants will be notified by email and/or mail of the Selection Committee’s decision. Applicants who are accepted for the scholarship will be asked to confirm or decline their acceptance via email/mail.**
