On October 9, 2020, the USDA issued COVID-19: Child Nutrition Response # 61,  Nationwide Waiver to Allow Non-Congregate Feeding in the Summer Food Service Program and the National School Lunch Program Seamless Summer Option - EXTENSION 5

On March 9, 2021, the USDA issued COVID-19: Child Nutrition Response #76 Nationwide Waiver to Allow Parents and Guardians to Pick Up Meals for Children for Summer 2021 Operations.

Under normal circumstances, Child Nutrition Program meals must be served in a congregate setting and consumed by participants on site. However, FNS recognizes that for school year 2020-2021, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, waiving the non-congregate feeding requirements will support safe access to nutritious meals.

This waiver is effective July 1, 2020 and expires September 30, 2021 for the Seamless Summer Option (SSO).
If operating National School Lunch Program (NSLP), this waiver expires June 30, 2021.
