What is the Agri-Science Summit?

At the National 4‑H Youth Summit on Agri-Science, high school students develop the skills and knowledge needed for the challenges facing agriculture, food security, and sustainability. Students will work with each other and experts in the agricultural community in this collaborative, hands-on educational setting.

The National Youth Summit on Agri-Science will take place March 4-7, 2021. Summit fees will be $75 for each participant. There will be 4-5 hours of screen time per day with a variety of workshops, keynotes, career exploration and opportunities for networking with 4-Hers from around the country.

What is the 4-H Healthy Living Summit?

At the National Youth Summit on Healthy Living, high school students develop the knowledge and skills to address issues surrounding nutrition, physical fitness, wellness, and emotional well-being. Working alongside professionals in family consumer science and healthy living, students will create action plans they can implement in their communities to teach other youth about what they have learned.

The National Youth Summit on Healthy Living takes place February 12-15, 2021. Summit fees will be $75 for each participant. There will be 3-5 hours of screen time per day with a variety of workshops, keynotes, career exploration and opportunities for networking with 4-Hers from around the country. Tentatively the program is set to 6:00-9:00PM Friday, 1:00 - 4:00PM Saturday/Sunday, and 1:00 - 3:00PM Monday. Teens may choose from the following Tracks: Food Insecurity, Health Equity, Physical Fitness, Substance Abuse, Nutrition, and Mental Health.

What are the Maine 4-H Summit Teams?
The Maine 4-H Summit Teams are groups of Maine 4-H'ers in high school that attend either the Agri-Science or Healthy Living Summits. Funding is provided by the Maine 4-H Foundation. The teams will include at least three 4-H youth (in grades 9-11) and one trained 4-H volunteer or 4-H staff. The teams will:

1) attend the March 2021 4-H Agri-Science Summit OR the February 2021 National 4-H Healthy Living Summit online. Here is Summit information: https://4-h.org/parents/national-youth-summits/ 
2) complete a Maine Action Plan while at the Summits.
3) work toward your action plan as a team after the Summit and throughout 2021.
4) report activities and accomplishments in your Maine 4-H Record Book and Portfolio.
   
To qualify for the youth team you must:
1) Be in grades 9-12 (ages 14-18) in the 2012-21 school year
2) Be an enrolled 4-H member in Maine by December 31, 2020. You can sign up for the summits before becoming a 4-H member.

1) Complete and submit this application.
2) Make sure you enroll in 4-H by December 31, 2020.
