What is PeaceTech and how can it improve your work?
The world around us is adapting to new, innovative technologies. It's time to introduce these technologies to conflict resolution and peacebuilding organizations.

Conntix and the US Embassy's American Center in Jerusalem invite your organization to participate in a unique training program - the Peacetech Training Course.

The training program was created to improve and enhance the  organizational development and ongoing activities of peacebuilding, shared society and conflict resolution organizations.
We will provide you with the knowledge, tools, skills and network to adjust your work for the info-tech revolution. You will learn how to conduct people-to-people dialogue using online platforms, how to reach new audiences and how to engage better with your existing ones using social media. In addition, you will learn about and experience advanced technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence. Finally, we will introduce you to important actors and to new evaluation methods and tools that will assist your fundraising efforts.

We see it as our obligation to provide you with the most up-to-date knowledge and deliver it through innovative and fun methodologies. In return, we ask to receive your full commitment for participation in this course, attendance in all of the 8 meetings and implementation of the insights learned in the organization's ongoing activities.

The course's sessions and themes include:

1. Understanding new actors: participants will learn how to utilize the power shift between states, tech companies and civilians changed to benefit their organization.

2. Generating an online people-to-people dialogue: participants will Learn a model for conducting people-people dialogue both on the virtual and physical dimensions. Using social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp to perform people-people dialogue and overcoming common challenges such as power imbalance, re-entry, recruitment and above all – new evaluation methods.

3. Building peace campaigns using digital platforms: participants will learn a three-dimensional model for creating campaigns using social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. We will introduce a macro-micro strategy to expose your organization’s activities and increase online engagement.

4. Growing your skill-set with simple and free online tools: make the most out of Canva, MailChimp, SurveyMonkey, TweetDeck, SumAll, GoFundMe and more, and let the creativity flow for better content. These are all crucial skills for organizations that manage their social media using a “one-man-show” method.

5. Providing unprecedented access to leaders in Peacebuilding and technology: in two meetings participants will meet and visit with a major actor in the tech ecosystem in Israel and video chat with PeaceTech Lab in Washington DC.

6. Advanced technologies in peacebuilding: How to use Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality in organizational projects and activities

7. Practical website building workshop at WIX

8. A guest lecture by a peacebuilding marketing expert.
Eligibility and selection
The course is taught in English, therefore strong English skills are required.

1-2 staff members working in Peacebuilding, development or shared society not for profit organizations are encouraged to apply.

Academics, researchers, consultants, political party activists and for-profit organizations are not eligible to participate.

Conntix is a consultancy aiming to improve cross-cultural communication and nourish non-violent dispute resolution within societies. Using innovative technologies and the practice of meditation, it emphasizes the buildup of a constructive process with concrete goals and measured impact.
American Center in Jerusalem
The American Center is a section part of the U.S. Embassy's Office of Public Affairs. It is an information resource as well as an educational and cultural center.
Arik Segal
Arik is an international mediator who specializes in the application of technologies in innovative dialogue structures. He established “Conntix” – a consultancy that aims to connect people through innovation and technology. He is a member of the Center for Applied Negotiations at the INSS and serves as the technology and innovation adviser for Mitvim. He is a lecturer at IDC Herzliya and teaches about: innovative conflict resolution, innovative public diplomacy, and online political campaigns. He teaches at the Rotary Peace Fellowship and gives guest lectures on international institutions such as Harvard Kennedy School. Born in Canada and raised in Israel, he holds an HBA in International Relations from the University of Toronto and a Masters' degree from Tel Aviv University in Diplomacy Studies, as well as a Mediator's certificate from Gevim Group.

Lironne Koret
Lironne has over five years of expertise in public affairs and social media in the diplomatic, political, operational and public sectors. She served for over two years as the Director of Digital Diplomacy and Deputy Director of Communications at the Permanent Mission of Israel to the UN, and later as Deputy Spokesperson for Yoav Gallant, Minister of Construction and Housing. She is currently the CMO of Wikistrat Inc., a consultancy that uses gamification and crowdsourcing. Lironne's passion is researching the future impact of social media on conflict resolution and backchannel diplomacy as part of her studies at Minerva School at KGI.
